The third Batman movie has been given a release date of 2011. None of the film's cast, including Christian Bale and Sir Michael Caine, has signed up yet, but the Dark Knight's producer Michael Uslan has let it slip that the film will be released in three years time.
The producer told New Jersey's Courier-Post about the new release date, as well as hinting that the Batman's next screen nemesis has been decided. "It's one of those deals where if I told you, I'd have to kill you," he laughed.
Elsewhere, director Christopher Nolan's screenwriter brother Jonathan has talked about the film's surprising (to many) snub at the Oscars - it failed to get noms for best film, best director and best screenplay.
He said, "(I) was disappointed that Chris didn’t get some recognition this morning, but for Heath and so many of the people who worked so hard on this thing to get nominated is thrilling.
"Any nominations for a comic book movie is a thing of beauty no matter how you slice it, and that takes the sting out a bit. Besides, I’ve been to the big show before (for Memento), and, like any of these things, it’s a little disappointing. Did you know it’s not even an open bar once the show starts? At least this time I would have remembered to bring a little cash so I could buy myself a drink after losing."
Late actor Heath Ledger was given a best supporting actor nomination.
