Hugh Jackman is reportedly being lined up to play the lead in a remake of Gone With The Wind.

According to Sydney Confidential studio bosses are keen to acquire the X-Men star's services as a modern day Rhett Butler, originally played by Clark Gable, while American newcomer, Jill Pace, is the name banded around for Scarlett O'Hara.

The Victor Fleming classic has made more than $400,000,000 since its release in 1939.
