With very little happening over the Oscars weekend it has been left for one little upstart to steal a march on the US Box Office – and said upstart is the twisty "Vantage Point", looking down on the competition perched on high from its heady err…vantage point at number 1. With a respectable $24 million opening weekend the Forrest Whittaker–starring thriller booked its place amongst the elite who can call the top spot 'home' this year. That means "Jumper" has had to teleport its way down to number 2 with a huge drop–off in Box Office receipts! And similarly slipping down a place is kid–lit fantasy "The Spiderwick Chronicles" at 3. Still 'moving' and a 'shaking' at 4 is "Step Up 2: The Streets" going toe–to–well manicured–toe with romantic adventure "Fool's Gold" at 5. Desperately hoping for a second wind in the chart is the Ryan Reynolds–starring rom–com "Definitely, Maybe", limping its way down to 6 yet still managing to out–perform this week's other new entry in Michel Gondry's "Be Kind Rewind". The kooky comedy featuring Jack Black and Mos Def could only bag a seventh–placed debut despite some strong word–of–mouth. Setting up a permanent residence in the US Chart is "Juno" – the knocked–up teen proving one of the biggest hits of the year at 8. Meanwhile, falling three places to 9 is the Martin Lawrence dramady "Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins" and "There Will Be Blood" has broken back in to the top ten at 10 on the day Daniel Day Lewis was awarded the Best Actor gong at this year's Oscars.
