Cate Blanchett has signed on to star as Maid Marian in Ridley Scott's take on Robin Hood.
The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button actress will play Russell Crowe's love interest on the troubled production - following Sienna Miller's departure on the film due to rumours that she was too young for the part.
The film was due to be called Nottingham and was meant to focus on the Sheriff rather than the famed outlaw - but will now focus on the origin of Robin of Lockley instead.
Abandoned as a child, he becomes enamoured with the common people in Nottingham. However, those abandonment and trust issues come to the fore when he begins a relationship with Marian, reports Variety. (We're presuming there will be some action too!)
Producer Brian Grazer said of his two main actors, "They are both highly accomplished dramatic actors who are taken seriously playing rich characters in period pieces, but each has the ability to show you fun."
