Guy Ritchie says his forthcoming Sherlock Holmes film will feature both brain and brawn as the famous sleuth adopts a more physical approach.
“To a degree, we’re being as authentic as we can to the original books,” Mr Madonna told Empire. “He was more of an action man originally and I didn’t think it was possible to manifest in an efficient way previously in the productions they have. Now we have money and we have the technology so it seems like we should put it to the test. It was just a natural fit.”
His film, produced by Hollywood action king Joel Silver, will be based on a new series of comic books, to be created by Lionel Wigram. More exciting, though, is the news that Robert Downey Jr will be the man donning the deerstalker and picking up the violin.
Perhaps the choice of actor was in itself a bit tongue-in-cheek as the famous detective was also known to have had a habit similar to the one Downey Jr kicked.
