Enchanted casts spell at US box office

Fairy tale film Enchanted slayed fantasy adventure Beowulf, which stars Angelina Jolie (pic), at the US box office.

The modern-day fairy tale, which stars Amy Adams and James Marsden, cast a spell over US audiences after taking $35.3 million at the box office - making it the second highest Thanksgiving debut ever.

It comes as good news for Hollywood after a two month long slump at the cinemas.

Second place went to This Christmas, while last week's number one Beowulf slipped into third place taking $16.2 million.

Action flick Hitman and Jerry Seinfeld's animated comedy Bee Movie came fourth and fifth respectively.
