Jet Li breaks Chinese salary record

As Hollywood worries about the money going to stars in the new age of piracy and illegal downloading, China is racing ahead in the salary stakes.

Jet Li is set to smash his own record when he bags 100m Yuan (approx £6m) for The Warlords. The previous highest single payment for a Chinese language film was the 70m netted by the pint-sized martial artist in Hero.

The Warlords is an epic set in the 17th century, though they may have to trim it down a bit now as Li's reputed wage will swallow up almost a third of the total budget.
