Step Up 3-D is on its way

The second Step Up is not even out in the UK yet, but a third one is in the works and it will be in 3D.

Yup, you heard right. Following the US box office success of Step Up 2 The Streets, Step Up 3D is being fast tracked into production with the same director John Chu. Step Up 2 The Streets took nearly $30 million in its first week - not bad for a film that cost only $20 million to make.

No doubt the filmmakers are feeling pretty clever about themselves managing to incorporate the word two and three into the actual titles - but let us remind them that 1983 Jaws 3D was a flop which sank the franchise.

However, you can't blame Disney studios for embracing the format. Their 3D film Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour was a huge hit in the US recently.
