From Gollum to Einstein

Lord Of The Rings star Andy Serkis has signed up to play Albert Einstein.

The actor, who famously played Gollum in Tolkien's epic trilogy, will star in a BBC TV production about how Einstein created his theory of relativity.

David Tennant, who is currently playing Timelord Doctor Who in the BBC1 series, will co-star as British scientist Sir Arthur Eddington, who was the first astrophysicist to understand Einstein's theory of general relativity.

The TV film, Einstein and Eddington, is written by Peter Moffat (Hawking, Cambridge Spies and North Square), directed by Philip Martin (Hawking) and made by UK independent producer Company Television.

In the meantime Serkis stars in crime thriller Sugarhouse Lane, which is released this month.
