Aronofsky takes on "The Fighter"

"The Fountain" and "Requiem For A Dream" director Darren Aronofsky is in talks to take charge of Paramount Pictures new boxing drama "The Fighter". The movie will reunite "The Departed" co-stars Matt Damon and Mark Wahlberg and is based on the true story of Boston boxer "Irish" Micky Ward.

Ward is a local hero in Massachusetts and his 2002 fight against Arturo Gatti was hailed as the 'Fight Of The Century" by Ring Magazine. The movie will see Mark Wahlberg play Ward, while Damon is in the frame to play his older brother and trainer Dicky. Filming could begin on the project as early as this summer.
