Clooney wrote part in new movie for Renee

George Clooney was so desperate to share screen time with Renee Zellweger he created a part for her.

Clooney, who directs and stars in the charming 1920s American football comedy Leatherheads, told Access Hollywood that there was only one actress that was going to play his love interest in the movie.

"I wrote the part for her from beginning to end. The thing which is beautiful about what Renee does is she isn't just a contemporary actress. You could put her in a period piece and believe it. A lot of actors, you can't do that with, just because they feel too contemporary. So she feels like a throwback."

However, he was wary of sending Renee the script.

"I was nervous that I would screw up," he added. "Listen, if you sent someone a script saying 'I spent the summer working on this with you in mind,' it's kind of hard for her to say 'no', so I know part of why she's doing this is because she knows I want to do it. So then your big fear is you don't screw it up - that you handle the film well."
