Renee brushes off locals

Renee Zellweger is upsetting locals in the sleepy Cumbrian town of Whitehaven during filming for Miss Potter, because of her aloof persona.

The Bridget Jones's Diary star received a warm welcome from the town's inhabitants while filming the Beatrix Potter biopic, which arrives on our screens next January.

But despite their hospitality her team of helpers prevented the Whitehaven residents from getting anywhere near the actress.

Special needs teacher Linda Cribb opened her home up to the film's cast and crew to shoot a scene, but when she asked for a chat with the 37-year-old, who is playing the role of children's author Beatrix Potter, she was not forthcoming.

Cribb said: "I spoke to her make-up artist but I was told not to ask, because Renee was in character and wouldn't have liked it. As she was leaving she said, 'Thanks for having us,' but that is about as much as we were allowed to talk to her."

It was less a case of Cold Mountain and more that of a cold shoulder from the Hollywood blonde.
