Viggo's "painful, embarrassing" nude scene

Lord Of The Rings star Viggo Mortensen has admitted he didn't enjoy getting his kit off in the new David Cronenberg thriller, Eastern Promises that will open the London Film Festival on October 17.

The film has him reunited director Cronenberg after their film A History Of Violence and required him to fight it out with a pair of brutish gangsters in a public steam bath.

Although he started the scene with his modesty covered by a towel, that didn't last long.

"It was slippery, painful, embarrassing," said the actor. "I’d be lying if I said it was just another day of work. I knew that it would be at times awkward and a little vulnerable and that it would be painful.

"Obviously I couldn’t wear pads for clear reasons. It wasn’t as bad as it could have been, but it’s not like I was primping in the corner to look as best as possible for the next angle or something!"

We've seen the footage and we can confirm it's visceral stuff. To be fair Viggo acquits himself superbly and has no reason to be embarrassed!

The film is easily as good as of A History Of Violence and if you enjoyed that Eastern Promises has to be on your must see list.
