Cedric the Entertainer (he from the dire "Code Name: The Cleaner") let slip in a recent interview with BlackFilm.com that Beyoncé ("Dreamgirls" star and all round recording megastar) will play singer Etta James in Sony BMG's "Cadillac Records", a new music biog to be written and directed by Darnell Martin (a director who has cut his teeth in such hit shows as "Law & Order" and "Grey's Anatomy").
"Cadillac Records" will be set in Chicago in the 1950s, focusing on the blossoming music scene and the rise of such American musical legends as Muddy Waters, Chess, Little Walter, Howlin' Wolf and, of course, Elvis Presley. Adrien Brody, Jeffrey Wright, Columbus Short, Emmanuelle Chriqui and Tammy Blanchard are all set to co-star alongside Beyoncé.
Filming is due to commence on location in New Jersey and Mississippi.
