While the film industry is gearing up for the start of blockbuster season, Forgetting Sarah Marshall is one of the few films doing good international business.
The latest comedy to emerge from Judd Apatow's prolific stable, the rom-com took $7m internationally, edging out 21 and De Seuss, aided by a money-spinning box office in the UK, where it took just over $4m.
The raunchy comedy features a show-stealing turn from Russell Brand, which probably explains its excellent UK performance. Takings will spiral even higher when it opens across Europe in June.
Over all, it was a slow week, with international takings the lowest for the year so far, not helped by good weather in Europe.
But that's expected to change in May, with the release of the Marvel adaptation Iron Man on Friday, followed in respective weeks by the Wachowski's brothers Speed Racer, the Chronicles Of Narnia follow-up and the fourth and final Indiana Jones film. Could be an expensive month for fans of megabucks action.
