It's one of Shakespeare's greatest plays - and one of Hollywood's favourites too. The seventh film adaptation of Macbeth has been announced, with Yorkshireman Sean Bean taking the lead role.
Sharpe star Bean (pictured as the British rifleman) actually played the tragic Scottish king in a stage production three years ago, so shouldn't have any problems bringing the famous character to the big screen.
Tilda Swinton, who won accolades for her portrayal of Narnia's evil White Witch will step into the role of manipulative Lady Macbeth for the film titled Come Like Shadows.
British director John Maybury (The Jacket) will take the helm on Vincent Regan's script. Regan wrote a TV adaptation of Macbeth in 2005.
According to Variety, the film will use a period setting, but will be accessible to modern audiences.
