Chad: "We're divorced... but I'll always love Hilary"

Actor Chad Lowe has spoken about his split from Oscar-winner Hilary Swank for the first time, and says he'll always love her.

The Hollywood couple married in 1997. Hilary, 32, famously forgot to thank Chad, 38, during her acceptance speech after winning her first Oscar in 2000, but thanked him first when she won her second Oscar in 2005. However, in May 2006 they announced their divorce, rumoured to be over Chad's drug addiction.

He told US TV show Extra: "I am so grateful to Hilary for her support of me in a very difficult time in my life three and a half years ago. What hurt me more than anything is that people would think that she wasn't there for me and she was…She was the love of my life and that's not something you just shut off. I will always love her."

"It has been a tough year [...] and very humbling. I've been sober for three and a half years and very grateful for that."

But he did dismiss any chance of reconciliation, adding: "Not in a marital sense... I'm very happy with my life and where it is now [...] I take great solace in the fact that I know I am capable of really deep love."
