Dallas: The Movie might be struggling to get made, but its star John Travolta has pledged to make it both cool and comic.

The actor is signed up to play head honcho JR Ewing in a big screen adaptation of the hit '80s TV soap opera about oil barons and their family squabbles. Other cast members seem to be dropping out like flies, but Travolta's wife Kelly Preston, Jennifer Lopez, Lindsay Lohan and Shirley MacLaine have all been linked to the project.

Speaking at the London premiere of Wild Hogs, in which he co-stars with Tim Allen and Ray Liotta, Travolta revealed his plans for the film: “You know what? Dallas is going to be really cool. My take on JR will fuse my most cynical and most charming aspects moments of cinema together.

"I’m hoping it’s going to be an all-out comedy.”

Well, the rest of Hollywood will certainly be laughing if the line-up changes anymore.
