The X-Files star David Duchovny has checked into a rehab centre for sex addiction.
He released a statement through his lawyer Stanton 'Larry' Stein: "I have voluntarily entered a facility for the treatment of sex addiction. I ask for respect and privacy for my wife and children as we deal with this situation as a family."
Duchovny has been married to Bad Boys actress Tea Leoni for 11 years. They have two children - Madelaine, 9, and Kyd, 6,.
Duchovny recently starred in the The X-Files movie I Want To Believe. He rose to fame after appearing on the show in the 90s as conspiracy theorist FBI agent Fox Mulder.
He won a Golden Globe earlier this year for his role as a womanising writer on hit TV show Californication.
