Oscar winner Rachel Weisz (pic) is not known for her comedy roles.

So it comes as a refreshing change to learn that the new mum is set to take an as-yet un-specified role in Vince Vaughn's comedy caper, Joe Claus.

The film, which sounds like Bad Santa meets Elf, is about Santa's overlooked younger brother Joe (Vaughn) and his bitter older brother, Fred. Paul Giamatti (Sideways) plays Santa and Kevin Spacey is the villain, Clyde - who comes up to the North Pole with the prospect of farming out the work to another country.

Kathy Bates is Mama Claus who spends most of her time keeping her unruly sons in line.

Spacey told VH1 the tension in the film occurs when Joe Claus moves to the North Pole while Santa is dealing with his elves' inefficiency. "They aren't working out too well," he said. "It's a very funny script and an opportunity to do something that is just great work."

The Warner Bros film is produced and directed by David Dobkin who did Wedding Crashers with Vaughn, and will be filmed in Rachel's home of London, where Spacey also lives.

Rachel, currently in New York filming My Blueberry Nights with Jude Law, is expected to close the deal very soon.
