German director Wim Wenders will head the jury for the 65th Venice International Film Festival.
The festival’s film line up hasn't yet been announced but it's expected that the Cohen Brothers' Burn After Reading will be the first film shown following the August 27 opening ceremony.
The film stars Brad Pitt and George Clooney and is scheduled for a September release. Pitt won best actor at the festival last year for his role in The Assassination of Jesse James.
Wenders, 62, won the Golden Lion in Venice for 1984's Paris Texas and best director for Wings of Desire three years later. His latest film is The Palermo Shooting starring Dennis Hopper and featuring Milla Jojovich, Patti Smith and Lou Reed playing themselves. The typically quirky film, concerning a photographer, was among the less well received at Cannes earlier this year.
