Sick internet hoaxers have been blasted after posting fake death rumours of Hollywood stars like George Clooney and Harrison Ford.

Clooney's publicist was forced to deny rumours that her client had died after she was bombarded by calls from the media and concerned celebrity friends.

Natalie Portman and Jeff Goldblum have also fallen victim to the internet hoaxes.

It all started with the real life deaths of Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett. Soon after, it was reported that Jurassic Park actor Goldblum fell to his death while filming in New Zealand.

At one point, the phrase 'Jeff Goldblum dead' was one of the most popular searches on Google. Kevin Spacey even posted on his Twitter account, "Jeff Goldblum is alive and well. I just spoke to his manager. Stop the stupid rumours."

Other hoaxes followed, including reports of Portman dying on the set of her latest movie Swan Song and Harrison Ford drowning in a yachting accident.
