Fall Out Boy look set to feature in the next series of The Simpsons, says cartoon mastermind Matt Groening.

The emo band are known to be massive fans of the show - indeed the band name is taken from the fictional character Fall Out Boy, the sidekick of Bart Simpson's favourite comic book character, Radioactive Man. They acquired their name at the end of their second live show when they asked audience members to yell out suggestions for their then unnamed outfit.

Speaking at the premiere of the Simpsons movie, Groening, told XFM: "Any band that names itself after a character on the Simpsons will eventually get on it. So, Fall Out Boy, stay tuned."

Meanwhile, the band say they've written several new songs for their next album, the follow up to current LP 'Infinity On High' - but are in no hurry to release them. Frontman Patrick Stump told Billboard: "I've got a bunch of songs written, but I think I'm going to wait a while before we release it, because I'm still really proud of this record and I want to kind of give it some space."

Fall Out Boy's next single 'I'm Like A Lawyer With The Way I'm Always Trying To Get You Off (Me & You)', is out next month.
