Director has problems filling Superman's suit

"Red Dragon" director Brett Ratner revealed this week that he has big plans for "Superman," the superhero movie franchise he has been giving the task of resurrecting. Although currently working on a movie which will re-launch the series by retelling the origin of the world's first comic book superhero Ratner is planning a trilogy of films: I'm telling one story over three movies and plan to direct all three if the first is as successful as everyone suspects." However this bold plan has helped delay casting the crucial central role: apparently first choice Josh Hartnett wouldn't sign a deal committing himself to three films, and Ratner has consequently met with a number of other potential supermen said to include Jude Law, Ashton Kutcher and Brendan Fraser: "No star wants to sign that (deal) but as much as I've told Jude and Josh my vision for the movie, I've warned them of the consequences of being Superman: hey'll live this character for ten years."
