A heavily pregnant Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny attended the London premiere of X-Files I Want To Believe last night.

Anderson, who turns 40 next month, is expecting her third child, the second with her British boyfriend Mark Griffiths.

The pair reprise their roles as FBI agents Scully and Mulder in the second big screen outing for the supernatural thriller, which is released on Friday.

Scottish comic Billy Connolly also appears in the film alongside rapper Xzibit.

The sequel to the first X-Files movie is been released at a time when, thanks to The Dark Knight, the focus is on big box office news. But Anderson has played down the importance of first week takings with this particular film.

"What behoves us all is to treat this ourselves as a stand-alone situation and not have any gross expectations," she said. On the subject of further X-files movies she added, "If we're lucky, and it does really, really well, then that could potentially lead to future conversations."

However, Duchovny says the film offers something a little more than the agents solving supernatural crime: "There’s definitely some skin in this movie and not all of it is being flayed or ripped apart. There’s some Gillian [Anderson] skin, and some of mine".
