With the Labor Day Weekend coming up, our American cousins can look forward to a glut of films coming out, all vying to wrestle the number one spot from Ben Stiller's "Tropic Thunder" in the US Box Office Chart. Such titles as "Hamlet 2", "Disaster Movie" and political thriller "Traitor" launch with their respective tilts at the crown. "Tropic Thunder" may come under stiffer competition though from Vin Diesel in Fox' "Babylon A.D.". The dystopian, future-set actioner opens this weekend and may capitalise on the general feeling amongst the cinema-going public to give Stiller's comedy a run for its money.
"It's long been said that Hollywood can't come up with fresh, good, satisfying and innovative product, and I think one of the truths of this summer is that Hollywood came up with product that was exactly that," said Universal President of Marketing and Distribution, Adam Fogelson in an interview with Variety.
With so many titles opening over the Labor Day Weekend, a period more traditionally associated with TV Series premieres, this year's summer Box Office may even match the record high achieved this time last year!
