Will Young makes his movie debut as a song and dance man in Stephen Frears new film, Mrs Henderson Presents
The film's set before and during the Second World War and inspired by the true story of the eponymous lady responsible for buying the Windmill Theatre in London's Soho and staging revues that turned the head of many a young man. The revues included naked ladies(!) as the theatre followed the lead of another famous 'Windmill' theatre, Paris's Moulin Rouge. However, the ladies had to stand still in Soho so as not to incur the wrath of the Government of the day.
Will stars as the lead song and dance man, performing several songs and toe-twinkling in white tie and tails. He's received plaudits from his co-stars, which include top British talent Dame Judi Dench and Bob Hoskins, and has been described as "a natural" for the part by his director and producer.
We've had a sneak preview of the film and can confirm Will can act as well as carry a tune. In fact the film's an absolute gem and could, indeed should, be a front runner for yet another British invasion at the Oscars in March next year.
Mrs Henderson Presents is out on November 25 in the UK. Who knows, by then Will may be hotfooting it to Hollywood.
