Narnia is holiday winner

With the festive holidays still in full swing family movies are proving to be enduring hits at the box office with Disney and Walden's The Chronicles Of Narnia returning to the US top spot almost a month after it was originally released.

The Lion The Witch And The Wardrobe toppled Universal's King Kong with $32.8 million (£18.9m) over the four day Christmas / New Year week in US theatres. Peter Jackson's ape epic took $31.6 million while Jim Carrey's Fun With Dick and Jane stalled at No.3 with $21.0 million. Also enjoying healthy figures during the school break are Steve Martin sequel Cheaper by the Dozen 2 with $19.3 million at No.4 while Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire took a further $7.5 million, taking the fourth movie's grand total to $276.9 million.
