You nose it, Nicole told

Nicole Kidman landed the role of Samantha in the forthcoming film adaptation of 60s TV series Bewitched because of her... nose, admits director Nora Ephron.

Ephron says that when she saw the similarity between the respective noses of Kidman and Elizabeth Montgomery, who played Samantha in the original TV show, there was no other serious contender for the part.

She told American journal the Boston Herald: "I instantly thought the resemblance between Nicole's nose and Elizabeth Montgomery's nose was so perfect. I thought, 'What a great idea to write a story about a character being cast in Bewitched solely for the resemblance her nose bears to Elizabeth Montgomery's."

Bewitched, which also stars Will Ferrell, opens in the UK on 19 August.
