Lord Vader's second operation

With the exception of Harrison Ford, Star Wars hasn't necessarily been a great stepping stone for it's lead actor's careers (Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Anthony Daniels anyone?). And it would appear that Hayden Christensen, aka young Darth Vader has also fallen foul of typecasting, of sorts, for his next role.

Hayden has signed on to appear in the new psychological thriller Awake alongside Fantastic Four beauty Jessica Alba. Last seen as a mangled wreck on the Emperor's operating table being transformed into Sith Lord Darth Vader in Episode III, Christensen will play a man who experiences 'anesthetic awareness' while undergoing, yep you guessed it, another operation. Anesthetic awareness is the medical term for when patients remain conscious during surgery but can't speak or do anything about it. The film's producers claim the movie will, "do for surgery what Jaws did to swimming in the ocean" reports Empire.

Writer/director Joby Harold begins shooting in October.
