Teri Hatcher's remarkable career renaissance in Desperate Housewives might never have happened.
The Emmy-winner Sela Ward and star of The Fugitive revealed that she was sounded out for the role of Susan Mayer, but rejected it because she couldn't face committing to a six-year deal.
"I had just finished (TV show) Once And Again, and my mother had died," the 49 year-old actress said. "It was a very difficult time. I regret not being on a show that successful."
Ward has since found success with a regular part in the Hugh Laurie show, House.
Earlier this year Pamela Anderson said she'd been offered the Hatcher role, a claim swiftly denied by producers.
