The roles were immortalised by Robert Vaughn and David McCallum in the original 60s TV show.
It followed the crime-fighting exploits of a suave international intelligence agency known as U.N.C.L.E., the United Network Command for Law Enforcement.
The organisation's chief adversary was THRUSH, a shadowy agency intent on world domination.
The film has been long in the planning.
Originally, Steven Soderbergh was set to direct the project, with George Clooney ear-marked for the Solo role.
