Army of Darkness 2 planned by Raimi?

Horror fantasy classic could be the director's next project, not Evil Dead 4

'Evil Dead' legend Sam Raimi is plotting a sequel to 'Army of Darkness', according to reports.

Last week saw the director tell fans at a talk in London that he was thinking of writing a script for 'Evil Dead 4' this summer.

But he then back-tracked on his comments, saying that he felt he was pushed into saying it by the encouragement of the fans in the room.

Now his long-time production partner Robert Tapert has let slip that Raimi's next project won't be 'Evil Dead 4', but more likely a sequel to 'Army of Darkness', the final installment of the 'Evil Dead' trilogy.

“That would be 'Army of Darkness 2', “ Tapert told horror site ShockTilYouDrop of the plans.

“Everybody calls it 'Evil Dead 4' but 'Army of Darkness' wasn’t called 'Evil Dead' anywhere except by the fans.”

As Tapert says, though technically being the fourth film in the 'Evil Dead' trilogy, this would not make the project 'Evil Dead 4'.

'Army of Darkness' took on a distinctly different tone than the previous 'Evil Dead' films, hurling itself headlong into medieval fantasy.

Its star Bruce Campbell was a little more guarded on the subject, however, adding: “[Raimi] never wants to let go, because he loved making these movies. We all loved making them together.

“They were a nightmare to make, very difficult, but they lasted the test of time, so he's not going to let that go, and I'm never going to say 'no.' It'll be me and a walker fighting some other old guy. But that's what he does and who knows? It may happen.”
