This tall silver-haired character player was known for his portrayals of American agents of authority. Spradlin's film roles include General Corman, the officer who assigns Martin Sheen to execute Marlon Brando in Francis Ford Coppola's wrenching "Apocalypse Now" (1979), Senator Pat Geary, the anti-Italian senator who falls into Corleone ranks in Coppola's "The Godfather Part II" (1974), "The War of the Roses" (1989) and "Ed Wood" (1994). His TV credits include "Rich Man, Poor Man: Book II", the series sequel to the acclaimed mini-series; "Robert Kennedy and His Times" (1985), in which he portrayed Lyndon Johnson; and "The Jayne Mansfield Story" (1980), among many others.
