DVD Review

The plot of Be Kind Rewind reads like a 80's film geek's wet dream. After Jerry (Jack Black) accidentally wipes out all the videos in his friend Mike's store after he becomes magnetised by the nearby power plant, the pair decide to replace the films with their own versions in the hope no one notices.

So armed with a single camera, a handful of actors and plenty of enthusiasm they go out to remake their own versions of Ghostbusters, Robocop and Driving Miss Daisy.

It's all very odd and quirky, but hey what do you expect when it is directed by Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind's Michel Gondry?

Unfortunately, the main plot conceit gets buried under a mountain of sub plots, before it's dumped completely in favour of a race against the time to save the video shop climax.

It's still an endearingly odd film that is bound to find an audience looking for something offbeat.

Extra features include an in depth making of, the full Fats Waller film and deleted scenes.
