Critically-acclaimed, this quirky French cartoon is a total joy from start to end. In an age when we've got all too used to seamless animation and lifelike recreations of the world around us, this quirky and stylistic movie goes back to the old 'comic book' school of design which more than does it's rather off-the-wall storyline justice.
Set in France during the '60s, the movie follows the adventures of a young boy named Champion and his tenacious grandmother Madame Souza, who convinces the lad to enter the Tour de France. But when Champion ends up on the wrong end of a kidnapping by a gang of gangsters, Madame Souza and a trio of jazz musicians, the Triplets of Belleville embark on a rescue bid.
It's genuinely very hard to convey the wonder of this innovative and feel good flick in words thanks to it's almost unique nature. It's more than enough to bring a big smile to the face of any true film fan and comes highly recommended.
