Beverly Hills Cop 4 Release Date Announced

Wise-cracking cop Axel Foley is back.

Eddie Murphy

The fourth film in Eddie Murphy’s ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ franchise has been scheduled for release on 25 March, 2016.

Paramount bosses have confirmed the movie’s debut, which will come to cinemas 22 years after the third film in the series was released in 1994. The film will see Murphy reprise the role that made him a star in 1984 - that of wise-cracking detective, Axel Foley.

Penned by ‘Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol’ and ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ scribes Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec, Jerry Bruckheimer is on board to produce the film which will see Foley return to Detroit.

Bruckheimer told The Hollywood Reporter: "He's going to be in Beverly Hills … so we're going to have some fun with him."

‘X-Men: The Last Stand’ director Brett Ratner will helm the movie, though no further details have been announced. Murphy's involvement in ‘Beverly Hills Cop 4’ came after a television series based on the franchise was shelved in 2013.

Murphy, meanwhile, is also set to appear alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny Devito in the sequel to 1988 comedy, ‘Twins’.

"We have not done any rehearsals for it other than meeting several times, and I admire Eddie as an actor and as a talent, with the three of us,” Schwarzenegger told BANG Showbiz.
