BAFTA Awards - 2009 Winners!

With 'Slumdog Millionaire' and 'The Curious Case of Benjamin Button' scooping the most nominations, it was always going to be an exciting battle to see who would take home the most BAFTA masks. Add into the mix a host of A-list actors who walked the red carpet either to present an award or hoping to receive one, it really was an exciting night.The late Heath Ledger won Best Supporting Actor for his role in 'The Dark Knight'.

Best Film: 'Slumdog Millionaire'

Best Supporting Actor: Heath Ledger

Also nominated: Robert Downey Jr, Brendan Gleeson, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Brad Pitt

 

Best Supporting Actress: Penelope Cruz

Also nominated: Amy Adams, Freida Pinto, Tilda Swinton, Marisa Tomei

 

Best British Film: Man on Wire

Also nominated: Hunger, Slumdog Millionaire, Mamma Mia!, In Bruges

 

Best Director: Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire)

Also nominated: Clint Eastwood (Changeling), David Fincher (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button), Ron Howard (Frost/Nixon), Stephen Daldry (The Reader)

 

Best Animation: WALL-E

Also nominated: Presepolis, Waltz With Bashir

    very predictable. all rubbish. slumdog over rated and heath ledger was only ever ok in batman. long boring film. dont believe the hype

    Kate Winslet for the Reader???em..eh...movie was made up of 2 naked people standing,2 naked people in bed, 2 naked people having sex or, u guessed it, 2 naked people in a bath!...i must of missed the acting bit!

    Slum Dog justified winner of best film and best director. Brilliant filming, content and storyline. The acting was superb, especially the kids! out of some 30 films I have seen at the cinema during the past 3 years, this one was the best by a long way!
