The only time Americans win is when there are no English contending. Bafta is notorious for being biased towards the English. Case and point Slumdog is an English film, it won, Boyle is English and he won best director, Winslet is English she won Best Actress, and back when Meryl Streep won the Oscar for best actress for Sofie's Choice and received instant international acclaim and awards, Bafta gave the Best Actress award to Julie Walters, one of their own. I am not an American even tough I do live here and I have no dog in this fight. This is just my observation: Bafta is a complete and utter joke!

Posted by: actevafitness on Mon Feb 09 08:18PM | Report abuseGlad to see Heath Ledger win. Hope he wins the oscar too. Slumdog Millionaire was good but I didn't think it was the best film. Frost/Nixon was supposed to be very good but I didn't see it so cannot comment. Well done Kate always thought she was a good actress. All in all it was a good show.
