With 'Slumdog Millionaire' and 'The Curious Case of Benjamin Button' scooping the most nominations, it was always going to be an exciting battle to see who would take home the most BAFTA masks. Add into the mix a host of A-list actors who walked the red carpet either to present an award or hoping to receive one, it really was an exciting night.The late Heath Ledger won Best Supporting Actor for his role in 'The Dark Knight'.

Best Director: Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire)

Best Animation: WALL-E

    how can the best film be Best Film: 'Slumdog Millionaire' but it did not even win british best film

    How can Slumdog be best film and not best British Film seems a crazy decision to me. If its the best film then it must be best British film. BSA Heath Ledger was given I believe becasue he is now dead. I thought Robert Downey jnr would get the award.

    Yeahhh i dont like the awards slumdog got. Didnt deserve them. Benjamin button was so much better!

    mickey is back from the darkness... I think that bafta has really made the difference. Jonathan ross was so unfanny specially after mickey rourke speech.

    Button should have got it - Slumdog is definitely overated. The acting in Button was far superior. Heath Ledger - could not fail RIP Joker you will be missed. Well done Kate - so glad you conquered over Jolie

    slumdog wasthe best film that's it. It would be ridiculous if it had also won the best british. now get over it
