Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin have been announced as the hosts for next year's Academy Awards.

It's the first time there have been co-hosts on the Oscars since 1987.

Martin said, "I am happy to co-host the Oscars with my enemy Alec Baldwin."

Baldwin added, "I'm thrilled to be hosting the Oscars - it's the opportunity of a lifetime."

It's Martin's third time hosting the ceremony following his stints in 2001 and 2003 respectively. It will be Baldwin's first time.

The news comes days after rumours that this year's host Hugh Jackman turned down the offer to present the ceremony again in 2010. British comedian Ricky Gervais was also rumoured to be in line for the prestigious job, but it looks as though the star will present this Golden Globes instead.

The Oscars will be held on the 7th March 2010.
