The 'Twilight' book series by Stephenie Meyer is an international phenomenon and now the film version of the second book, 'New Moon' is a record breaker.
'New Moon' was rumoured to cost just over £30 million to make, and it has already smashed that budget after taking £84.6 million during the opening weekend, making it the third biggest selling opening weekend in US history.
The vampire film has also shattered the opening day record with £43.7 million ticket sales on the first day beating 'The Dark Knight' off the top spot.
By Friday, 'New Moon' had already become a record breaker in the UK for midnight opening sales taking nearly £500,000 - after already breaking the record for advanced ticket sales in the UK.
While the first film, 'Twilight', didn't exactly top the critics' list it still took £42 million on its opening weekend, and went on to make over £230 million, launching Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart into international superstardom.
It remains to be seen whether 'New Moon' can become the top grossing film of all time and beat 1997 film 'Titanic' off the top spot. And of course there are still two more films in the Twilight Saga to come; 'Eclipse' and 'Breaking Dawn'.
Have you seen 'New Moon' yet? What did you think? How does it compare to 'Twilight'?

Posted by: lenn.fred on Mon Nov 23 03:01PM | Report abusei've never read the books, thought the first film was ok - good even, but was really dissapointed by New Moon. I honestly can't rate it. Shame because the cast clearly have a lot of potential. That Tony Blair/Frost/Clough guy was just silly and cliched (not his fault - script) and Dakota Fanning was totally miscast.
Posted by: loneforfree on Mon Nov 23 03:02PM | Report abuseIt's an OK film, nothing spectacular like almost everybody seems to be making out lol. It's just over hyped. The books are far better than the movie.
