What is Cybergeddon?

Anthony E. Zuiker conquered the TV world with the ridiculously successful 'CSI' franchise.

Now he's turned his attention to the internet with ambitious hack action drama 'Cybergeddon' - a 95-minute series that's made its debut on Yahoo!.

Starring Olivier Martinez and Missy Peregrym, 'Cybergeddon' features big budget production values and a storyline that'd feel at home on cinema screens.

It sees Peregrym play FBI Special Agent Chloe Jocelyn, who goes on the run after she is framed for a crime she didn't commit.

Olivier plays Gustov Dobreff, a cyber criminal who is (possibly) the mastermind behind the whole affair.

Previously straight-to-web series have involved taking a show or movie and just showing it on a smaller screen.

Zuiker however wanted a more involved experience that is "specific to the device."

Run in bite-sized chapters over three days, there will also be additional content around the episodes that helps inform the plot and character development. They have also been written with the web in mind.

"We had a beginning, middle and end every 10 minutes. Very visceral, very fast, very character driven with multiple screens, and a score, and look to really emulate the viewing and navigational experience people have online," Zuiker says.

"I wanted to challenge the movie industry to do things that had nothing to do with the theatre.

"I wanted to do a movie that was free globally in 25 countries and 10 languages around the world anytime, anywhere, on any device."

He hopes to "crack the DNA of how to tell stories online and bypass the theatre as a behavioural shift happens" with this new distribution strategy, and who knows, it could be the way we watch all our drama in few years time.
