Exclusive: Gary Oldman turns nasty in Lawless clip

New period gangster smash 'Lawless' is out this weekend, and by way of celebration, we have an exclusive clip for your viewing pleasure.

Here, Gary Oldman's brutal mobster Floyd Banner takes out a competitor with only a slim cigar and a rattling Tommy gun, while Shia LaBeouf's impressionable Jack Bondurant looks on aghast.

Bondurant is the youngest of three brothers running a bootlegging business in the lawless Virginia.

John Hillcoat's grimy prohibition-era thriller features a stellar cast, including Gary Oldman, Tom Hardy, Shia LaBeouf, Jason Clarke, Jessica Chastain and Guy Pearce.

The film has been adapted for the screen by cult musician Nick Cave (who also provides the music), while Hillcoat's previous form includes the blistering Australian 'western' 'The Proposition' and his adaptation of Cormac McCarthy's 'The Road'.

Buckle up...
