Brad Pitt is reportedly being courted by old friend David Fincher to star in his new adaptation of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.
The adaptation of Jules Verne's ocean adventure - which starred Kirk Douglas in the 1954 original - is currently waiting to get the greenlight from Disney, Variety reports.
Sources say David - who has previously collaborated with Brad on Se7en, Fight Club and The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button - has asked the actor to take the lead role of sailor and master harpooner Ned Land.
Se7en's Andrew Kevin Walker rewrote the script by Scott J Burns back in November 2011 and now David is waiting for Disney to give the project the go ahead.
Scott recently told movie blog ComingSoon.net: "20,000 Leagues came about because David and I were trying very hard to find something to do together. I wanted to do something that was science fiction with David because I think science fiction is maybe the most exciting area to work in right now.
"As it so happened, David and I both loved 20,000 Leagues when we were kids. It was one of my favourite books."
