Brad Pitt has been tentatively broaching the subject of a sequel to his zombie actioner 'World War Z'.

The movie has, thus far, turned up an impressive $536 million (£342 million) worldwide since its release over the summer to widespread fanfare from moviegoers.

He's previously mooted the possibility of a trilogy, taking more source material from writer Max Brooks - son of comedy legend Mel Brooks - who penned the original novel.

Speaking to Variety, he said: “We're certainly talking about it, yeah. We have so many ideas on the table from just the time we spent developing this thing and figuring out how zombie worlds work.

“We have so many ideas and so much information, we think we have a lot of stuff to mine from. We're going to do our best and see what we get out of it.”

Whether this is just polite talk because he was asked about it, we don't know at this stage.

Some think that Pitt will be happy to have turned what was a fraught production into a profit-making project, and may walk away thanking his lucky stars.

Pitt's company Plan B Films was among the movie's producers, though the filming was dogged with reshoots, hefty editing and reported budget issues.

Many critics and analysts wrote it off as one of the biggest potential flops in recent years, but it rallied against the terrible hype, instead becoming Brad Pitt's biggest ever hit.
