With cringe worthy sisters, and a beautiful dress, its easy to see that this is infact the all time classic Cinderella. Not plagerised however, just the modern fairy tale, one of many forms of the much loved childrens story.
Origonally (I may be wrong however) a Grimm Fairy Tale, this story has over the years been retold and retold, like an old foke tale passed down through generations, something changed each time. This time the story takes place in the 21st centuray, and see "Cinderella" or Samantha, battle with her step mother who will see her miserable if its the last thing she ever does, and meet her prince in desguise Austin. However its not quite the same as I remeber. Cinderella is does infact have two stepsister, but not particularly ugly ones; she does live in the nicest 'palace' on the block; she does indeed have a fairy godmother, nicely disguised as waitress Rhonda; she does not however dress in rags; she doesn't glimpse prince charming for the first time at the ball, but see hims evrey day at high school; oh and one more thing-she knows him quite well through this invention we call the internet and text messageing!
But, its still the same basic story. Samantha is made to look like a bit of an outcast, her step mother is worshipped, Austin seems to be the most popular guy in the 'kingdom', and her best friend...not quite a mouse...sticks with her till the end.
The most beautiful scene in the movie...actually the second most beautiful scene has got to be when they meet at the ball and dance. They both look gorgeous, and she is to embarassed to reveal her true self. At this point audiences are shouting at the screen "just go for it, hes not who everyone thinks he is anyway, he'll understand!!"
If that happened though, we wouldn't have had the fantastic movie that we have.
Not finding her glass slipper or fur slipper if you want to be really specific, but instead her mobile phone, he goes in search of his Samantha, much in the same way Prince Charming searched for cinderella. At the same time some touchy feely, awhh moments occur that don't effect the main story line but distracts viewers from it and gives them a few more reasons to want the main characters to end up together and the step mother to get whats coming to her.
After a much awaited and extremly embarassing revealing of Sam, the story finds its happy ending and they might not get to rule a kingdom but they do, it is assumed, live happily ever after.
