Michael Mann's Collateral, in which Tom Cruise played an out-and-out bad guy for the first time, gets the two-disc DVD treatment here.
Cruise stars as Vincent, a professional assassin who's in LA to carry out some hits. Getting into a cab he finds himself confronted by Max (Jamie Foxx), a laid-back driver who views his present occupation as nothing more than a temporary diversion before he establishes his own fleet of luxury limos. Vincent's journey soon proves to be anything but mundane and Max is involved in a real battle to stay alive, never mind get his fare.
Mainly shot using digital video cameras, Cruise excels in this dark and gritty thriller. With his greying hair and stubble, he brings a gravitas to Vincent's menace and savagery, peppering this dedicated and focused killer with a degree of humanity and honour. Foxx, too, is in excellent form as his unwilling accomplice.
As you would expect, there are numerous extra features including the spectacular Target Practice Footage and Combat Training With Tom Cruise and Jamie Foxx, plus City Of Night The Making Of Collateral, a deleted scene with Michael Mann's commentary, Shooting On Location In Annie's Office featurette, Visual Effects MTA Train Featurette, Special Delivery featurette and Easter eggs.
