Confetti is almost a who's who of British TV comedy, featuring actors from The Office, Green Wing, I'm Alan Partridge and The Royle Family among others.
And stars Martin Freeman (The Office, Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy), Jimmy Carr and Jessica Stevenson (Shaun Of The Dead) certainly add some credibility to this entirely improvised comedy about oddball couples competing to win a house by throwing the most original wedding. In the mockumentary style of The Office (naturally Freeman is a natural at this) the film follows three couples' attempts to win a bridal magazine comp.
Freeman is set to marry Jessica Stevenson, a self-dubbed "physically dyslexic" woman who lives for musicals. Nudists Robert Webb (many frontal nudity shots) and Olivia Colman give a heavy dose of absurdity, while tennis-obsessed couple Meredith MacNeill and Stephen Mangan are fairly unreal but provide plenty of jokes. Add in Alison Steadman as the prospective mother-in-law-from-hell and the stereotypes come thick and fast.
The supporting cast are excellent. Felicity Montagu (Lynne from I'm Alan Partridge) is quietly hilarious as the harassed magazine editor, and gay wedding planners Archie and Gregory provide plenty of high-camp tantrums. Jimmy Carr somehow pulls off the part of arrogant, slimeball magazine owner Antoni, providing more laughs than he ever does on TV.
Wouldn't recommend Confetti for a first date though - you might give someone the wrong idea, or worse, put them off...
