Great news for those who prefer being scared out of their wits while on holiday to, say, lying on the beach...

Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard's 'The Cabin In The Woods' is to be made into a theme park attraction at Universal Studios in Orlando.

The titular cabin from the 2012 post-modern horror satire will be open to wander around from September.

But for those who haven't seen the film, there may be spoilers ahead...

The public will take on the role of the guys pulling the strings, with visitors being 'inducted' into the organization that subjected Kristen Connolly and her pals to a night of horror movie cliches.

“My wish for 'Cabin' was always that it would live on outside the film, that people would take that ball and run with it,” said Goddard, “and I can't imagine a better fit for what we were trying to do with the movie than make a maze out of it.”

The attraction will be open from September 20 to November 2 as part of Universal Studios' Halloween Horror Nights celebrations.

The film, which saw five friends targeted for ceremonial sacrifice at the hands of a shadowy organisation, was a hit on its release, with critics loving its dark humour and satirising of horror movie tropes.

Like 'Pirates of the Caribbean', maybe they could make a film about the attraction... now that would be post-modern.
